Torre Zambra Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Madia 2023

From plantings around the estate.  Wild fermented in stainless steel, then aged six months in concrete tanks before bottling.  Bright and grippy, enough juiciness for casual drinking and enough depth to take seriously.  The Montepulciano grape curiously can provide impressions of oak characters in its chocolate and spice notes – whatever the case, fun drinking here.

As good a release as we’ve seen – bright, grippy, juicy and generous.  Aromas and flavours of dark chocolate, cocoa and plums, to earthen mushroom and beetroot notes.  Chewy tannins define the personality here, overlaid with a shake of baking spice and clove and some textural creaminess.  Appealing for both Old and New World drinkers, a generous and fun iteration.
