Sourced from various sites in Heathcote’s north. This blends Shiraz (for meatiness), Touriga Naçional (graphite and blueberries), Grenache (lushness) and Sangiovese (herbs). Alex feels that Spanish and Italian varieties represent the future of Heathcote, with this wine showing how these varieties can be blended for finesse and grace.
The flavours knit together well here, with the wine a nicely rounded, medium bodied expression of glossy, cuddly fruit, dried herbs and mineral, showing elements also of creamy dark chocolate and typical Heathcote earthiness. A fun wine with a tonne of appeal here for anyone looking for an outside the box bright red.
