Au Pied du Mont Chauve / Burgundy, France

Crystalline, contemporary Burgundy

The Picard family own and operate out of the beautiful Château de Chassagne-Montrachet, and are the largest landholders in this village, with some 35 hectares of many notable holdings across the Côte de Beaune. Whether Grand Cru or Bourgogne, exactly the same winemaking resource is dedicated to all wines at all levels; crystalline, pure expressions here, an exemplar of contemporary Burgundian winemaking.

  • Au Pied du Mont Chauve Bourgogne Chardonnay 2016

    $ 75.00 incl. GST

    100% Chardonnay from parcels around Chassagne and Côte Chalonnaise.  Barrel fermented with selected parcels raised in seasoned oak and stainless.  An array of stone and citrus flavours here, with a core of almond nuttiness.  Amazing zest to this wine, a real electric energy.  Concentrated and long, this is polished Bourgogne, has a real class and is certainly pushing villages level quality.

  • Au Pied du Mont Chauve Bourgogne Pinot Noir 2016

    $ 75.00 incl. GST

    100% Pinot Noir from parcels around Chassagne and Côte Chalonnaise.  A complete expression – red and crispy fruits are delivered cleanly over polished earthen expression – think mushrooms and fresh undergrowth, though this is secondary to the red fruit purity.  An edge of pencil shaving mineral further rounds things out.
