Well priced wines of genuine character – one winemaker's mission
Hugh and Jane Faulkner fell in love with a vineyard, situated on the foothills of the Masif des Maures, in the centre of the Var, and settled at the property in 1989. Their eldest son Julian would eventually take over the running of the vineyard in 2000. A shrewd wine businessman and talented vigneron, Julian established the Jules label with the mission to craft delicious, accessible, and great value wines with single estate personality. JULES IGP MEDITERRANÉE ROSÉ 2016
60% Merlot, 40% Carignan. Screwcap.
Pure Provence in style, this is a great all-occasions wine, and a first rate introduction to French rosé. Made and priced to over-deliver. From a riper vintage, this release is a little more fruit forward than usual, and that's no bad thing. Full in the mouth and pretty classic in style - strawberries and cream with a saline bite to close. An easy wine to love and everything it should be - refreshing, straighforward, delicious and highly moreish!
"Righteous, simple, gluggable Provence rose of high vitality and refreshment factor. Rose petal, watermelon juice, light red berry fruit sweetness – the bouquet is appealing as. Tangy and fresh to taste, bright and crisp in nature. A light buzz of sweet, berry fruitiness jostles with electric, gently saline acidity. Pleasing as can be. No brainer for good times drinking." 89 points, Mike Bennie, Winefront
JULES IGP D'OC CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2014
Bright fruited, mid weight, full flavoured – a delicious little number combining the personality of the Old and New Worlds. An earthy edge, bright blue and black berries at its core, carried over a lovely line of tannin cushioned with Cabernet leafiness. Grown in a single vineyard in the Narbonne region, there's enough fruit and ripeness to call this a fun wine, with enough detail and complexity to take it seriously.
