Vino di Tavola via the Clare Valley

From the hands of two astute wine businesswomen, Kate Giles (a wine marketer) and Marnie Roberts (winemaker, also of Matriarch and Rogue).  Born of a passion for alternative and emerging varieties and the opportune finding of a fantastic parcel of Sangiovese, this #cheekysangioproject (working title) evolved into Dilettante, from the Italian Dilettare: "To delight and to entertain."

dilettante sangiovese 2017

Minimally handled 100% sangiovese from a single vineyard in Clare Valley.  Hand picked, fermented and raised in old French oak, unfined, coarse filtered, and just a dot of sulphur at bottling.

Slurpy, juicy fun here. Raspberry, black cherry and a lick of dark cocoa.  Fine tannins add texture over plush fruit, darn easy to go for a second, third and forth gulp.  Star anise and a flicker of white pepper give further length and complexity.  Highly versatile for drinking as is, or popping on the table with pizza, pasta, pub grub, anything simple and hearty.
